Terra Faz Bem | Stay the night in the heart of the Serra de São Mamede

Alentejo, Sleep

Terra Faz Bem Marvão

The beautiful natural park Serra de São Mamede is the perfect holiday destination for those who love to be close to nature. The small-scale Terra Faz Bem is the ideal spot from which to discover this soothing part of Portugal. Owners Maria and Jorge will give you a warm welcome and make sure you have everything you need for a memorable stay.

Three apartments

Terra Faz Bem consists of the owner’s house and three comfortable and beautifully decorated apartments. They are all connected, but thanks to the lush planting everybody enjoys there own privacy. All apartments have a nice terrace to soak in the fresh air and the impressive landscape. On hot days you can cool off in either the shallow river of the property or the fresh water tank. Breakfast is served in your apartment every morning and there’s a small kitchen in case you want to prepare your own food.

Nature all around

The property is large, with a big variety in trees, plants and flowers. Besides the very friendly cats and dog, you can enjoy the company of butterflies, dragonflies and other fascinating creatures. Terra Faz Bem is located in the middle of nature, so to go hiking you only have to put on your shoes and grab a bottle of water. From here you can walk to the Marvão Castle, the small villages around and even Spain. At night time you will probably want to use a car to get to the bigger towns and restaurants.

You can book your stay at Terra Faz Bem through Airbnb. You can choose between three apartments (my pictures are from Suite Harmony).
There is also a website for Terra Faz Bem, which focuses more on the owner’s other activities.

While you’re there

There is so much to do in the Serra de São Mamede. Make sure to go hiking, visit the Castle of Marvão and discover the small streets of Castelo de Vide. Go to Portagem to eat at Mil Homens restaurant or to take a dip in the Rio Sever. Visit the olive oil museum in Galegos and discover the old smuggler’s route to Spain. But most of all: make sure to relax and take it slow.
