Nature and adventure meet in Pena Aventura
Are you a daredevil? Do you like to go for the thrill? Or do you prefer to avoid adrenaline rushing through your body? Either way, adventure park Pena Aventura is a great day out for you. Being active in the middle of beautiful nature is the main purpose of this park in the north of Portugal. And all visitors can pick the activities that fit their personal level of courage.
Nature and adventure
Pena Aventura is located next to the stunning Parque Natural do Alvão, giving it amazing views on impressive mountain peaks and green forests. The park counts a total of 16 hectares in which the various partners search for the perfect balance between nature and adventure. Both children and adults can enjoy activities on the ground, in the water and even in the air.
Keep calm
Do you want to take it easy? Go on one of the guided walks in the area and get to know the nature and culture. Play a competition on the mini golf course or practice your artery skills. Or explore the park by segway or electric mountain bike.
Some excitement
If you want a bit more excitement you can try the adventure tree courses or the wall climbing. There’s the stand up paddling if you need some cooling down. Challenge your travel companions in a race on the crazy cart track.
In need of adrenaline
If that all sounds too soft for you, perhaps you should focus on Big Air Bunjee Ejection. Or what about canyoning or water trekking? A lot of fun is the alpine coaster and my personal favourite the Fantasticable. In this zip line experience you will fly high over the beautiful landscape (belly down!), for about a full minute. That gives you lots of time to look around to the trees below and even spread your wings!

These are just some of the possibilities Pena Aventura has to offer. For the full programme you can check the website or follow the social media. Also see some shots of my own adventures in this park in the short video below (excuse all the screaming…)
Where
Pena Aventura is located in Ribeira da Pena. That is about 90 minutes by car from Porto and about 45 from Braga. If you want to stay in the area the Casas Novas Countryside Hotel is a great option.
