Portugal’s capital Lisbon has so much to do that you could easily spend your whole holiday there. But if you’re looking for some nice time at the beach or a change of scenery, the train will take you to the pretty town of Cascais in no time! A great escape from the city, where you can work on your tan or dive into some Portuguese culture.

All aboard!

The coastal town of Cascais is located on the Atlantic Coast, a little over 30 kilometres from Lisbon. You can hop on the direct train at the Cais do Sodré train station, close to the Lisbon city centre. This train is called the “Linha de Cascais“, which will take you forty minutes to get to Cascais. Along the way it stops at no less than fifteen train stations in Lisbon and various coastal towns. A great part of the train ride takes you very near to the Atlantic Ocean. If you want, you could also get off at other beaches like Algés beach or Santo Amaro beach. Around Carvacelos the train takes a more inland route, but in Estoril the beach again is just a short walk from the train station. After Estoril it’s just one more stop to Cascais.
