Take the train from Lisbon to Cascais
Lisbon has so much to do that you could easily spend your whole holiday there. But if you’re looking for some nice time at the beach or a change of scenery, the train will take you to the town of Cascais in no time!

The coastal town of Cascais is located on the Atlantic Coast, a little over 30 kilometres from Lisbon. You can hop on the train at the Cais do Sodré train station, close to the Lisbon city centre. It will be a forty minutes ride from there, stopping in some neighbourhoods and small towns along the way. A great part of the train ride takes you very close to the beautiful coast!
About Cascais
The town of Cascais is a holiday destination in itself. Foreigners as well as Portuguese like coming to Cascais for sun, pleasure and comfort. It has much to offer besides the golden beaches. You’ll find great restaurants here for fish and seafood, there are some beautiful villas and palaces to admire and there are several cultural highlights like the Paula Rego Museum and the Lighthouse Museum Santa Marta.
Don’t try to explore all of Cascais in the one day. Just relax, walk around and take a dive in the ocean (if the weather allows it). See this short visit as the perfect inspiration for your next trip to Portugal!

Portugal’s railway company is called “Comboios de Portugal”. They have a good website, which is also available in English. Easily find the train times and prices there. The train to Cascais goes so often that you can also just show up at the train station. Besides Cais do Sodré you can also take the train from the stations Santos, Alcântara-Mar and Belém.

Do you have a Lisboa Card? Then you will pay nothing for this train ride. Otherwise it will be just € 2,25 for a one way ticket.
